Animated Grade Crossing Safety & Trespass Prevention Social Media Campaign

Watching video on smartphone

Trespassing along railroad rights-of-way is the leading cause of rail-related deaths in America. Fishing on rail tracksNationally, more than 400 trespass fatalities occur each year, the vast majority of which are preventable. Similarly, collisions at highway-rail grade crossings are the second leading cause of rail-related deaths, resulting in approximately 250 deaths annually. Too many people who trespass illegally or try to beat trains at crossings are not aware of the dangers. The Federal Railroad Administration has launched a targeted animated social media campaign to raise public awareness and discourage risky behavior around railroad tracks.

Starting February 8, 2020, FRA will post a campaign video to its social media platforms every week Crawling under trainfor a total of 15 weeks. Once posted, the video links will be added to this page.

Please help us spread the word about the importance of rail safety by joining our social media outreach efforts and sharing these videos and related, FRA social media posts on your own platforms.

We also encourage you to take a quick survey to provide feedback on the overall campaign.
